The Sailing Center Chesapeake is located at the Tall Timbers Marina in St. Mary's County.

During the summer. the Center hosts junior programs in association with St. Mary's Ryken High School and the Southern Maryland Sailing Association.  See below for details.

Blanton Memorial Regatta.  In the spring, we host the Southern Maryland Junior Varsity Championship honoring Bill Blanton, a long-time member of the board of the Southern Maryland Sailing Foundation and one of the founders of the Center.

Spirit of America.  In conjuction with St. Mary's College, the SCC runs a Spirit of America program to introduce water safety to middle school students during the summer.  This program is supported by a grant from the Spirit of America Foundation, an off-shoot of the National Water Safety Congress.

Sail for Youth.  In late August, the Center helps run a fund-raising day of fun at Solomons for boats of all sizes with a great party at Zahniser's afterward.  The event supports supports Calvert Hospice, Rotary club scholarships, and the Southern Maryland Sailing Foundation

High School Competitive Sailing.  In the spring and fall, the Center runs practices and hosts varsity and junior varsity events for high school competitive sailing.

Summer Classes

Advanced Teen Racing:  Run by the Southern Maryland Sailing Association and theCenter June 17 through June 21.  Sessions will be at the Sailing Center.

Junior Sailing Camps (June 17 - for beginners; June 24 - for  intermediates) will be run by St. Mary's Ryken High School.  The venue will be at Ryken's Leonardtown campus as a Summer Knights Athletic Camp.  Cost is $200 for each week.  Enroll using this link.

Spirit of America Boating Safety for Middle School Students.  Three one-week sessions for 25 students each.  See the Spirit of America pages on this web site for more information.

The Southern Maryland Sailing Association runs classes for younger beginner and intermediate sailors in Optimist prams throughout the summer.  These boats are most suitable for smaller, younger sailors.
